Dubai Sees Launch Of $1m Gold-Plated Car

For the rich and famous, there is nothing more extravagant than a gold-plating a car, and now one has been created thanks to Nissan.

The Japanese car manufacturer has put its R35 GT-R on display at Automechanika Dubai expo in Dubai.

The event, which was held between May 8th and 10th, showcased a number of impressive cars and automobile features, but none captured the public and media interest quite like the gold vehicle.

Nissan’s most impressive car was made with help from Artis, Kuhl Racing and engraver Takahiko Izawa. Together they created a vehicle worth more than $1 million (£689,712).

Not only does it look striking, with intricate engraving all over the body, but its mechanics are appealing too. It has a 3.8 litre V6 twin turbo 545 hp engine, and comes with additional horsepower and torque.

It also has a reinforced body and precision handling, and a six-speed dual clutch transmission, enabling the driver to achieve high sportscar speeds while operating the vehicle.

The R35 GT-R also has 20-spoke wheels and uses high performance differential oil, which is standard for GT-R motorsports competitions.

Gold-plated cars could be a trend that takes off, as more and more people are investing in phones that are covered in gold these days.

Indeed, one celebrity that cannot be seen without his gold smartphone is singer and record producer Pharrell Williams, who has been posting images holding his gold iPhone on his Billionaire Boys Club blog lately.

He is known to love Apple technology, and the gold-plated iPhone is simply a step up from the brand’s usual list of products.
