Photographer Rankin To Showcase Designer Jewellery
Fashion photographer Rankin has teamed up with a number of well-known and up-and-coming British jewellery designers to shoot portraits of cultural icons wearing distinctive jewellery as part of the Southbank Centre’s Let the Light In campaign.
Stunning pieces by well-known names like Tatty Devine, whose creations have been spotted on the likes of Alexa Chung and Miley Cyrus, and Wolf & Moon, which makes all its pieces in its east London studio, will be among those adorning the celebrities in Rankin’s portraits.
Maria Allen and Materia Rica are among the up-and-coming jewellery makers whose work will also be on show.
The jewellery itself has all been designed specially for this exhibition and focuses on the theme of the interplay of light on and within the Southbank Centre’s iconic buildings.
Artist Grayson Perry, actress Joanna Lumley, journalist Paris Lees and radio and TV presenter DJ Nihal are among the models who will feature in Rankin’s portraits that go on display from 8th December until 23rd December this year.
Rankin commented: “It is a chance to celebrate the UK’s rich contemporary culture and design and to reflect upon how we draw inspiration from our past.”
All the pieces featured in the portraits will be available for sale at the Southbank Centre, which means there’s an opportunity to add to your jewellery collection just in time for the obligatory festive and end of year parties.
Alternatively, you could visit the exhibition to get some inspiration but instead of investing in new items you could revamp some of your old pieces of jewellery with stylish gold plating.
