Want A Gold Phone? It Doesn’t Have To Be An iPhone

Everyone knows that you can get a gold iPhone if you don’t mind paying a premium, but Apple aren’t the only smartphone manufacturer to offer their handset in a golden hue.

The new OnePlus 5 will be made available in gold, it has been announced, with the Android model set to be released in a “soft gold” according to the manufacturer.

OnePlus unveiled its gold phone earlier this month, explaining that the model features 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The company also revealed that, despite the desirable colour, it will be priced the same as the other versions of the phone, which is also available in dark grey and midnight black.

According to Verge, the gold colour used on the OnePlus 5 is very similar to the shade the company went for on its 3 and 3T models. “It’s a subtle gold that’s quite attractive, and has a soft finish that matches its name well,” the website stated.

When the OnePlus 5 launched in June this year, the company stated that it features the highest resolution dual-camera system in any smartphone on the market. The charging technology utilised in the OnePlus 5 also means that a user can get a full day’s charge in just half an hour.

Pete Lau, OnePlus founder and CEO, said: “The OnePlus 5 showcases our obsessive attention to detail and our focus on delivering the best user experience possible.”

With a price tag of £499, it’s still an expensive piece of tech. If you can’t quite stretch to that for a golden smartphone, maybe you could send your existing model to a gold plating service to bring a bit of bling to your handset.
